Whether you recently decided to buy a home in Fairbanks or have been a lifelong resident, there’s always something new to learn about living in “The Land of the Midnight Sun.” From history, to culture, to climate, to art and architecture, Fairbanks offers residents and visitors plenty of opportunities to explore what makes the largest city in the Alaska Interior such a fascinating place to live, work, and play. From museums, to self-guided walking tours, to community festivals and fairs, there’s no shortage of ways to immerse yourself in Alaskan culture. Because the best way to understand Fairbanks is to start in the past, we’ve listed out a few local museums to cross off of your list this year.

The Pioneer Air Museum, and the Ice Museum are open seasonally from June through September.

There’s no better way to get a sense of place than by exploring the history of Fairbanks. From learning about our agricultural roots, to experiencing life in a native Alaskan village, to marveling at large ice displays, Fairbanks does a fantastic job of providing residents and visitors with a well-rounded glimpse into what made our city what it is today. We hope you’ll take some time this winter to dive into a few local museums, and make plans for a self-guided walking tour of downtown Fairbanks once the weather warms up. If you’re in the market to buy a home in Fairbanks and would like a team of local experts to help you acquaint yourself with the city, please let us know. We at Madden Real Estate would love to help make your transition into life on “The Last Frontier” a smooth, stress-free experience.
