Festivals to Enjoy This Weekend in Anchorage, AK

It's almost the weekend yet again and you're likely making plans in the Anchorage, Fairbanks, Eagle River or Palmer area to soak up the weather and enjoy some of your free time. The good news? This weekend, Anchorage is hosting three festivals for residents and visitors alike to attend, all varying in themes from food to the local nature scene. Mark your calendars for these three festivals celebrating the "Dog Days" and coming at the end of the month, you can prepare for the annual Alaska State Fair!
Dog Days of Summer Block Party

Anchorage, AK
What better way to celebrate these dog days of summer than with a block party? Sponsored by the Anchorage Downtown Partnership, this party allows you to bring along your pets! There will be all kinds of dog-related products and exhibits showcasing local pet services, demonstrations from rescue organizations, and more! Bring along your pet for the Pet Parade and Pet Trick Contest— this is your chance to show off your dog and the tricks they can do! The Dog Days of Summer Block Party will also give pets and owners a chance to take a close-up with the event's favorite photo-op feature.
2nd Annual Beer and Bacon Festival

This local Anchorage event is 21+ and will feature Anchorage's best bacon dishes and microbrews! The second annual festival for Anchorage, the Beer & Bacon Festival includes up to 12 micro-brew samples in a commemorative glass, live music, prizes, costumes, free massages and even a bacon-eating contest (all included in the price of your ticket!). Tickets are limited and are now on sale for $45/per person. Don't miss this fun opportunity to sample some of Anchorage's culinary favorites!
BirdTLC's Autumn Wings Festival

Spend the day at this celebration of the birds, wildlife and outdoor scenes found in Alaska's version of autumn. Alaska's outdoor lifestyle is the focus of the event and visitors can find booths from local science, wildlife and recreational organizations on display. BirdTLC's Autumn Wings Festival will also include a live bird program with eagles, owls, falcons, hawks, songbirds and corvids, a bird calling contest and a rehabilitated eagle release. If you're a lover of the great Alaskan outdoors, you'll love this festival!
