Fun Summer Events Planned for Fairbanks and Anchorage Alaska!

Now that it's June and Memorial Day is behind us, we can welcome the "unofficial" start of summer to Fairbanks, Anchorage, Eagle River, Palmer, Wasilla and North Pole Alaska! The warmer weather has arrived and this month, there are many fun events planned to kick off the new season. As your local Alaskan real estate experts, we've rounded up events to add to your calendar and opportunities to get out and explore— take advantage of everything that our area has to offer!
Skinny Raven Twilight 12K & Skinny Mini 6K
When: June 5, 2015, 7 PM
Where: Anchorage, AK
This fun, evening race event returns for its 9th year this month! Hit the streets of Anchorage and follow this event's interesting road course (one of Alaska's most unique!). It's the race of the summer and this year, you can join in on the Skinny Mini 6K if the full 12K just isn't in the cards for you. Half the distance, yet all of the fun!
Alaska Paddle Fun Day
When: June 6th, 2015, 10 AM
Where: Goose Lake in Anchorage
Open to all ages and abilities! The Alaska Paddle Fun Day is a free event for the public to learn more about paddle sports, from sea kayaking to stand up paddle boarding to canoeing and pack rafting. There will be boats available to paddle and presentations and demonstrations will be happening throughout— including Cold Water Safety, Equipment, Trip Planning and more.
Fairbanks Folk Fest
When: June 13, 2015, 1 PM to 10 PM
Where: Pioneer Park in Fairbanks
Head out to Pioneer Park in Fairbanks, AK for a day filled with fun, FREE music! Performances will begin at 1 PM and continue through 9:30, with genres spanning blues, rock, Irish, soul and more.
Park Founders' Day
When: June 13, 2015, 12 PM to 3 PM
Where: Delaney Park Strip in Anchorage
The Anchorage Park Foundation is turning 10 and it's time to celebrate! There will be live music, games, facepainting, outdoor photo booths and a visit from the Mayor! Enjoy an Alaskan summer day while also celebrating the outdoor lifestyle and destinations located right here in Anchorage.
Fairbanks Gazebo Nights
When: Through August 31 2015, 7 to 8 PM
Where: Pioneer Park in Fairbanks
All summer long, the Fairbanks Arts Association will host Gazebo Nights in Pioneer Park! Artists will perform every evening, rain or shine, at the Gazebo and this year's lineup will include dancing, music and storytelling. Bench seating is available, but guests are also encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs.
Father's Day Car Show
When: June 20th, 2015, 11 AM to 2 PM
Where: Sourdough Fuel in Fairbanks
What a great way to spend Father's Day! This car show will feature some of Alaska's most unique and custom vehicles. The event is free to the public and will host local food vendors, activities for the kids and prize drawings all afternoon!
