Winter is almost here again in Alaska, which also means the holidays are right around the corner! There is no better place to spend the holiday season than in Fairbanks, Anchorage, Eagle River, Palmer and especially North Pole. There are many festive ways to get into the spirit in Alaska this time of year, including the following events coming up next week:


Skinny Raven Turkey Trot

November 27th, 2014

11 AM

Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center

Anchorage, AK 


The annual Turkey Trot race is perfect to participate in before your Thanksgiving dinner. This year, the 5K and 3K have new loops and both start and finish inside the Dena'ina Civic Center to help you keep warm. The 5K begins at 11 AM and the 3K at 11:10 AM with awards given for the best times in each age group. 


Holiday Tree Lighting

November 28, 2014

6 PM

Town Square Park

Anchorage, AK 


The downtown Anchorage holiday tree lighting will take place the day after Thanksgiving at 6 PM. Residents of Anchorage and guests alike will enjoy free cookies, hot cocoa, holiday music, the Dancing Tree, a meet and greet with Santa and his reindeer at 6:30 and the lighting of the AT&T Holiday Tree. 


Christmas in Ice

November 29, 2014 to January 6, 2015

Next to Santa Claus House

North Pole, AK


Weeks of holiday fun in North Pole, Alaska, including these festive activities: single and multi-block ice carving competitions, celebrations of Christmas around the world, picnic under the stars, New Year's Eve Spectacular with Santa and a midnight fireworks display to name a few. No matter your age or what community you're from in Alaska, Christmas in Ice has something for everyone!


Pioneer Park Holiday Bazaar

November 29 to November 30, 2014

10 AM

Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts

Fairbanks, AK 


Free to the public, this holiday bazaar in Fairbanks is great for picking up early holiday gifts. There will be numerous local vendors and crafts, holiday train rides, a jazz band, children's story time, and an opportunity for pictures with Santa.
